I recently read a book called Juicing, Fasting, And Detoxing For Life by Cherie Calbom MS author of Juicing For Life. This book was fantastic and if I could I would give you all the details that I found helpful and life changing but this is a book and would take far to long so I will just give you a few highlights. "The programs in this book include short juice fasts and specific cleanse programs that act similar to spa treatments on the inside. They're somewhat like a housecleaning crew for your organs and fluids, on down to your cells. "
I also have three copies that I would like to send (at no charge)to three lucky winners who would be interested in reading this book. The only problem is that I need some help here creating a contest. My idea at this point is for all who would like to read this book and win a copy just put a comment here on my blog and I will put all the names in a hat and Ava will draw three winners. You will want to read this book and have it on hand to reference so I highly recommend putting your name in the comment section of this post and say Pick me! If you have a better contest idea let me know otherwise I am just going to do the pick out of a hat contest (I am so original).
Highlights From the book Juicing, Fasting, And Detoxing For Life- by Cherie Calbom MS
**Detoxing can help us lose weight-"Vast amounts of toxic substances found in our environment, including carcinogens, are stored in fat cells. Because the body uses fat to hold toxins thereby protecting delicate organs, we often find it hard to lose weight. Ironically, fat is our friend when it comes to toxins. It protects us from all the acidic and toxic waste that endangers our organs. But when we remove this mess through detoxing, our bodies no longer need this protection, so they can begin to let go of the extra fa. We suddenly notice that our clothes fit better and we feel lighter and happier, while fat just seems to be melting away."
**Liver, Gallbladder and Kidney Cleansing-Cherie, the author gives you several"detox programs that will help you cleanse the liver, gallbladder and kidneys and assist them in functioning well so you can feel healthy, energetic and really alive. It may seem strange to think that the liver, gallbladder and kidneys have something to do with how you fell , but they do. Their health is key to your overall health."
**The Mind Body Connection-"The way you choose to use your mind, will , and emotions and the way you respond to your outer world has as much, if not more, to do with disease as your diet, lifestyle and environment. The body is a mirror of your inner thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Science has shown that when you are in a state of distress, your cells come into disharmony. More than any other factor, emotional stress weakens the immune system and you are less likely to control anything from parasites to cancer cells."
This is just the very tip of the iceberg but I think gives an idea of how this book can help you become much healthier. There are a multitude of juice and soup recipes for a variety of things. From a colon cleanse juice cocktail to a good sleep nightcap juice. I feel like there is so much beneficial information that I am not doing this fabulous book justice so trust me when I say if you want to look and feel better (and lose some weight) you will want to win or buy this book. I will leave you with a recipe to try!
Garden Tomato Soup
3 small tomatoes or 2 medium
2 green onions (about 2 inches of tips and green) chopped
1/2 green pepper chopped
1 cup vegetable broth
1 teaspoon sea salt
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend well. Serves 2
I tried this and really enjoyed it!!!
Now leave your comment and say "pick me" and you can find out all the great ways to become healthy.

Hi Heidi, I've always been fascinated with juicing--thanks for the great post. Though I prefer to ingest my veggies and fruit the old-fashioned way, to get the most fiber, I actually have a juicer...that I seldom use. Gonna dust it off and try to add it to my daily diet.ReplyDelete
I was only recently wondering about how I should do a detox - so pleease! put me in the draw!ReplyDelete
The receipe for the soup sounds good and easy ( No one in my family is a very good cook), but I've never heard of a green onion ?ReplyDelete
any easy EASY salsa receipes?

My husband and I are very health conscious...I am very, very small...4'10", 82 lbs...but healthy, in pretty good shape and I would love to have a really good, highly recommended book, where I won't LOSE weight, but cleanse...count me in!!!ReplyDelete
Juicing has always gotten outstanding publicity over the years. It just makes good healthy sense. Sounds like a great book. :-) Thanks for the info Heidi. Great job!ReplyDelete
( Raising hand .... ) Pick me, pick me, pick meeeee!ReplyDelete
I think everyone I work with would like to see this, as most are pretty weight consciense.
Is there a recipe in there for lettuce and bananas? I was talking with someone one day and she was telling me about juicing those two together and how filling it was and how much energy it gave her. Juicing is definitely good for you. It's been awhile, might be time I tried it again!ReplyDelete
I need to read this book. Please pick me. :)ReplyDelete
I'm always interested in reading something new to me on health and nutrition! So I have to say...Pick me!ReplyDelete
Pick me. Pick me!! I'm trying to get healthier, but changing is definitely not easy. But I did just buy a juicer!!! :)ReplyDelete
Sounds like a great book...I've never done any "juicing" but I did a detox (under the care of a doctor) for three weeks a few years ago and I have to say it was the best thing I could have done...it helped me to determine the cause of issues I'd been having...so I am a fan to detoxing!ReplyDelete
Oh and "pick me"

Heidi I got a copy of this book also and loved it. I'll also be running a book giveaway contest soon so do not put my name in for the free drawing. I would say antone who cares about the toxins we store in our body should read this book - and do the detox.ReplyDelete
Who doesn't love a hat-drawing contest? Yes please, pick me Ava!ReplyDelete
The book sounds great! I love juicing though my juicer's also dusty, very dusty. Funny how you can have the best of intentions...
Maybe this will spur me on... thanks for the encouragement Heidi!
Please Pick Me.ReplyDelete
Pick me Heidi...ReplyDelete
But the problem is I'm from Malaysia, I want that book, but I don't want to make you in trouble.
The 'hat-drawing contest' is a great idea, maybe I will do that for my first contest soon.
I would love to read this book!ReplyDelete
It could give me great ways to feed my son more veggies! Pick me
Pick Me! It sounds like a very interesting read!!ReplyDelete
I hope I win!
I LOVE juicing! Unfortunately I got out of my routine over the last year, but I'm getting ready to start up again, especially now with the braces (I posted the 'after' photos!)ReplyDelete
Ohhh please...PICK ME!!!ReplyDelete
I've been desperately searching for a good detox to stick to and would love so much to read it. Thanks!!!
I haven't read this particular book, but I believe in detoxing and fasting to maintain good health.ReplyDelete
Pick me! I too am interested in how Paul's wife restored her eyesight, because I would love to do the same.ReplyDelete
Heidi here's a website where you can generate a random integer. First you will assign numbers to the people that commmented and want to be included in the contest. I would start at the first comment and go down. Since you will have 3 winners you would put 3 in the first field, because you want to generate 3 numbers, then in the next two fields will be 1 and "number of comments". Then generate your numbers. Here's the link:
Random Integer Generator
Hope that helps!
I started juicing about a month ago. It has helped me get a lot of nutrients I might not normally eat. One secret I've learned: add lemon or lime to your greens, and you will make the juice much more palatable!ReplyDelete
