Veggie Juice For A Weight Loss Boost!

Veggie Juice For A Weight Loss Boost!

Okay, this is one that I can actually do without too much trouble!!! In a recent study the Baylor College of Medicine scientists studied 81 overweight adults who were following the DASH diet (rich in foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats). They found that the participants that had a daily eight-ounce glass of low sodium veggie juice lost an average of four pounds in 12 weeks-while the control group lost only one pound. The juice, usually tomato mixed with a variety of vegetables, may fill you up so you don’t eat as much.

Now keep in mind this seemed to work on a healthy diet not how I would like to do it which would be with chocolate bars, cheetos, and nachos. If only. LOL. It sounds simple and very good for you to get some veggies in your diet!!!!

  1. That is the first time I heard of this study, but it makes sense to me. I need to drink more veggie juice too!

  2. V-8 has some great tasting vegi-blends, but you do have to watch the sodium. Even some low sodium can be higher than you think.

  4. Seriously? There's really not a diet that includes chocolate, cheetos and nachos?! Here I've been eating those things pretty regularly thinking they were included in my diet plan! Guess that's where I went wrong! :-D

  5. wait a minute...why if the control group was eating fruits and veggies whole grains & lean protein but not drinking juice did they only lose 1 POUND in 12 weeks? Um...isn't that what they tell people to eat if they want to lose weight? It's actually the same as South Beach diet (On SBD you can have either juice or half a cup of veggies in the morning)

  6. I want to try one of those juicer machines one day. I am really working hard at becoming totally vegan. I'm down to just dairy! Any ideas you use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!

  7. Heidi:

Yes, yes, I tried this when I was younger. It worked great. The pounds will drop off faster than you can spell veggie. Of course, you also have to eat plenty of high water content vegetables and stay away from fats. But if you stick to it, you'll gain the strength of a wild mountain gorilla and feel like a million bucks.

    Happy trails.

  9. Hi Heidi, sounds like great advice, have to give it a try.

Thanks for your input on my last post, I think Kate Beckinsale is in a class of her own. She's got style, elegance and sex appeal, even if she wears a black garbage bag. :-)
Hope the rest of your weekend will be filled with fun.

  14. It is most essential to add some veggies to the diet...and a drink or a smoothie is a easy and uncomplicated way to gulp them down. But I also thought that they get digested very fast ?and you get hungry again soon !!!.
