Two Secrets To Weight Loss That May Surprise You!

For some reason this week I have the appetite of a herd of elephants. Really, it is just horrible so I am employing a couple of my favorite if not unusual weight loss tips that are helping me a bit. Thought I would throw them out there for you to see if maybe they might help you too!!

Pinching Away Those Cravings-Literally

Looking for an ancient Chinese secret to help you fight those cravings? Try pinching your nostrils or earlobes for 10 seconds and those cravings will pass (I tried this and it worked for me-but don’t pinch too hard ). Apparently the nostrils and earlobes are acupressure points that help to suppress cravings.

AND

Eat a pit a pat of butter. No kidding! It may not sound delicious but it works as an appetite suppressant. I have a spoonful and it makes me feel full. Actually, I kind of like the taste although the texture is kind of funky.

Give these a try and let me know what you think. So far so good for me!

p.s. I am still working on my vitamix 5200 post. It is the best machine on the planet and I am actually becoming a healthy cook!

p.s.s. I am so far behind so I am sorry to everyone but will catch up soon I hope with commenting.

Btw, you should have taken a picture of the full moon and post it on your blog. Maybe write about the health benefits of basking in the moonlight....if there's one! LOL!

  12. Somehow I can't imagine Heidi with the appetite of a herd of elephants! The butter starts a hormone trigger to tell you that you're full...olive oil works the same way. A little olive oil with pepper, garlic, oregano to be soaked up with some bread before a meal should help you to feel full faster and eat less.

    I'll try the ear thing.

  14. I will give the pinching a try when needed!

I've found if I can control the amount of starchy carbs, keeping my intact low and go a little heavier on protein I completely eliminate cravings...but as I'm sure you can guess starchy carbs are my downfall!

    Cheers

  21. Hmmmm i am going to try the pinching technique next time I crave the old diet coca cola. An update on my status.

About 4 yrs ago an ex girlfriend of mine bought me an itailian leather belt from italy with my initials on it (it was very cool). Unknowningly she estimated my waist size considerable smaller than its reality (she gave me a 32- I am more like a 36 maybe 34).

Yesterday I reached for a familiar belt that I had been wearing recently, didnt think much of it and put it on. It seemed rather tight all day. Today when reaching for the same belt realized that I had indeed grabbed the italian 32" belt!

Your encouragement and tips are to be central to this accomplishment!

  23. My grandfather used to eat a bit of butter with his dinner. He would put a teaspoonful on his dinner plate and eat it with his meal. It used to gross out all of us grandkids ... but maybe he knew something we didn't know!!! ;-)

  27. Thank you so much Heidi for all your help and kind words you are a lovely lady.

On another note ... I too seem to have gained a few pounds over the Christmas holidays. (I'm not even greedy! Lol.)

One thing that may interest the readers of your blog - this is just an observation. I used to work with a chap who could eat and eat and eat and never gain a pound. What he did do that was different to me though was - firstly he never ate anything in one go - it would take him at least half-an-hour to eat a cake as he would peck at it - a series of small mouthfuls then he seemed to be oblivious to it for five to ten minutes then he'd munch some more. The other thing that he did - almost continuously was fidget. He would tap his feet - I am convinced this must have burnt up the calories more so than a long and laborious work-out.
I think really although none of us wants to admit it - the answer to getting rid of the extra pounds is to eat more slowly and to move more frequently.
Marching on the spot is supposed to be excellent ... left right left right left right ..........
I'm supposed to be ironing at the moment but that doesn't seem to burn up anything other than scorch the fabrics!!
