I get a little lazy in winter since generally the swimsuit is many months away however this year I am determined to not let the holidays an...
What about just doing a few days of fruits and veggies only. No sugar, no starch, dairy or preservatives. You can eat them hot or cold. If you roast the veggies, use just a bit of olive oil. For drinks water hot or cold with lemon, teas and limited coffee.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea VetTech!!! I can do that bc I can eat something and the tea and water with lemon sound good too! Thanks for your input!
ReplyDeleteI found a recent case of kidney stones really took my mood for food away. Just a thought :)
ReplyDeleteSo far as I can tell, there is no valid science behind the "cleanses" on the market.

Sorry can't help here...I've never actually done a fast before...
ReplyDeleteGood luck on finding something that works for you!
Cheers
I think it is so difficult to find any one thing that works, especially when we're trying to keep our kids fed well at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know! I think I will just stick to my low carb, high protein, fruits, veggies, 5 meals a day, green tea and the water with lemon that vettech suggested. I am ditching my diet pepsi, chocolate, sugars and bad carbs:((((
ReplyDeleteI hope you find something that works for you cause I haven't! I'm trying to just let myself have whatever - within reason of course - because if I tell myself I can't have something my brain hears deprivation and I crave it horribly. All things in moderation I guess.
ReplyDeletei go for fruits diet and water to cleanse my body. but the long holidays were temptations.now im back to fruit diet
ReplyDeletei'm like you Heidi, I love to eat, and though I have not given birth, but I can imagine how hard it is to last a day with juice alone, I know I can't :( I have not really tried any fasting and cleansing diets so I won't be of much help :( though when I feel sick and I don't feel like eating, oftentimes, papayas help me feel better.
ReplyDeleteI know it's not healthy but I just started Atkins again :-) It's the only way to get my carb cravings under control.
ReplyDeleteDendolion salad or teas will clean your blood and cacao (chocolate in the purest form). Sangre de Draco tea. Senna leaves are great to clean your colon but you have to be carefull to don't do it for more than 3 days in a row.
ReplyDeletethe problen with deprivate yourself suddenly from foods and specific liquids is that your body will react as panic defense and the next time you put food in your system is going to trap it and won't let go as if your body was in critic condition. So everything you do, do so in a balanced way day after day, a discipline (you seem to be doing a great job) of every day in your life, may your food be your medicine, and your medicine your food :)
Hi Heidi, well you just about knocked me off my chair asking that question... now I do not set much store in cleansing, dieting etc, however I have just the cure for all your ailments.... here is what you do, you take a few pics and send them in to me so I can post them on my leg show.
ReplyDeleteNow when you visit my blog and you see your lovely pics on someone else's blog, you will just naturally feel so much better.
So, please, I am sitting here, watching my inbox... (0_0)
Colin.
Ps, aren't you feeling better already?
Heidi:
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago my Queen and I read a book titled, Fit For Life. It was fantastic. Chocked full of fruits and vegetables. We followed the advice religiously. We lost weight. We looked better. And we felt great. It's a simple diet. No starvation, and no gimmicks. All I can say is get the book and look it over. You decide.
By the way, I have written a short love story that I think you will like. Stop by. Let me know whaat you think. Is it a hit, or a miss?
In the meantime...
Happy trails.
Are you serious dear? You are such like our health guru here =)
ReplyDeleteRoutine exercise definitely didn't work for me but balancing my food intake like eating more veggies with bigger breakfast, medium lunch and lighter dinner helped me maintain my ideal weight. I do casual walks but don't really focus on exercising. High fiber natural fruit juices also cleanses really good.
Heidi you still look fantastic. Don't sell yourself short you are a beautiful and classy woman. I think sticking to your low carb high protein diet is probably your best bet. Fasts aren't really fun and must be done the right way to stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteWhy not just eat a sensible organic diet and exercise?
ReplyDeleteSweat clenses the body, organic foods are like nature intended for us. If you notice, any diet states in the fine print that it should be used with a proper diet and exercise. Everyone I have seen. So, what is the common denominator? "proper diet and exercise".
Some things will never change.
I have gone on a low carb diet towards dinner time and a high carb diet during breakfast. This has helped me loose a lot of weight the past couple of months. Of course regular exercise is still necesaary, but the diet that I follow is based on the principles of spiking insulin high during the day and causing it to crash at night ensuring that my body burns off the fat and not stores excessive amounts of it :)
ReplyDeleteHello Heidi,
ReplyDeleteI have a nice giveaway running on my blog at the moment, I hope you will spare a moment to enter, the prize is really worth it!
Hope to see you soon and have a lovely day.
Colin.
Still got the kidney stones, and while it is unpleasant the weight loss results are amazing...so is the pain, of course :)
ReplyDeleteHomestly, though, I think the weight loss is coming and staying because of the huge amounts of water I am drinking. Apart from the pain in my unmentionables, I've never felt better!
So, rather than the stones, I guess to be clear I am really suggesting lots of water :)

Thank you all!!! I decided to stick with my water, green tea and fruits and vegetables as usual. I think I will give the dandelion tea a try too!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Heidi,
ReplyDeleteWow such great advice from all those that left comments. I have found that the following has worked for me; 1. Eat small frequent meals through the day. I usually have about 5 meals spread evenly through the day with the last one at about 7:00 p.m.. Not eating actually sabotages your diet by training your body to use muscle as an energy source and storing the fat as an edge against famine. This cycle ruins your metabolism. Eat healthy sensible foods. Study and learn their caloric value 2. Be active. Walking is fine. Just 10-20 minutes a day will make a big difference. 3. Treat yourself occasionally. Diets that make you feel punished don't work. I love m&ms I eat them daily its just that a regular bag if m&ms will last me a week. ;o) Thanks for the visit the other day it was great to see you. ;o)
The Pastor of my old church did this cayenne pepper diet/fast along with a bunch of the other church members. I never did it but I heard it had great results.
